Clemson couldn’t buy a bucket to start the game and quickly found itself trailing 11-0. But the Tigers chipped away and nipped Charleston, 66-59 Wednesday.
Jerai Grant came off the bench and paced Clemson (8-4) with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Tigers won their third straight game.
Charleston’s Andrew Goudelock scored a game-high 21 points and added six rebounds and six assists. Charleston, which had won four games in a row, dropped to 8-4.
Clemson trailed at halftime, 29-26, but Tanner Smith’s 3-pointer gave the Tigers their first lead, 34-33, early in the second half. The Tigers never trailed again, although Charleston remained within a couple of points until the final minute.
Clemson outscored the Cougars 40-30 in the second half. Smith finished with 11 points and sank three 3-pointers.
