Kyle Singler finished with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists as No. 1 Duke continued its strong play with a 98-72 victory over Elon on Monday.
Nolan Smith added 22 points and Andre Dawkins had 17 off the bench for the Blue Devils (11-0).
Duke took control in the first half, using a 14-0 burst to take a 21-8 lead in the early going. Singler had seven points during the spurt and 12 before the break to help the Blue Devils take an 18-point lead into the locker room.
The Phoenix (4-7) tried to fight back in the second half, getting as close as 69-56 with 8:44 left. But Smith scored six straight points and totaled eight during a 14-6 burst over the next three minutes that put the game away.
Duke heads tp North Carolina-Greensboro on Dec. 29, before hosting Miami for the start of Atlantic Coast Conference play on Jan. 2. In what looks like a down year for the ACC, Duke has no teams left on its schedule that are currently ranked in the top 25.
