Biko Paris led the way with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Reggie Jackson added 16 as Boston College came from behind to take down Maryland, 79-75, in its Atlantic Coast Conference opener on Sunday.
Corey Raji hit a pair of key shots down the stretch and finished with 11 points for the Eagles (8-2, 1-0 ACC).
Neither team was able to get more than a four-point lead in the second half. Boston College sparked a back and forth rally when Paris drained a 3-pointer to knot it at 67-67 with 4:38 left. The teams traded baskets on the next five possessions, with the Terrapins finally taking control when Adrian Bowie emerged from a timeout and converted a layup to make it 75-72 with less than three minutes to play.
But the Eagles did not go away, fighting back to tie it on Raji’s layup and grabbing the lead when he hit a 3-pointer with 39 seconds on the clock.
Jordan Williams finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds for Maryland (7-4, 0-1), which will get to recover with three straight non-conference home games before ACC play continues at No. 1 Duke on January 9.
