Scott Christopherson scored a game-high 30 points as visiting Iowa State topped rival Iowa 75-72 Friday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
It was the first win for the Cyclones at Iowa since a 73-69 victory in December 2002.
Christopherson played all 40 minutes and was 10 of 17 from the field, including 7 for 12 from 3-point range, as the Cyclones (8-2) scored one of the biggest wins in the program's recent history.
Melvin Ejim added 15 points, and Diante Garrett and Jake Anderson scored 10 points apiece.
The Hawkeyes (5-5) led 40-31 at halftime, but Iowa State went on an 8-0 run to take a 46-45 lead on an Anderson layup with 14:05 to go. Zach McCabe later sank a 3-pointer to put the Hawkeyes up 50-49 with 12:12 remaining, but Garrett's basket put Iowa State ahead for good 51-50 with 11:50 to go.
Matt Gatens led Iowa with 15 points, while McCabe scored 13, and Melsahn Basabe and Andrew Brommer scored 12 apiece.
Eric May and Bryce Cartwright, two of Iowa's big scorers, were held to eight points combined.
