Kemba Walker scored 30 points again as No. 9 Connecticut held off New Hampshire, 62-55, at home on Tuesday.
Freshman Shabazz Napier was the only other player to finish in double figures for the Huskies with 11 points.
The Wildcats led at the half, 24-23, holding Connecticut to 31 percent (8-of-26) from the floor and just 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. Walker kept the Huskies in the game, scoring 15 of their 23 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 6-of-8 from the line. New Hampshire actually outrebounded UConn, 24-17, in the first 20 minutes.
After going from unranked to the top-10 in one week by winning the Maui Invitational, it looked as though the Huskies were playing down to the competition.
The Wildcats kept control until the 14:08 mark in the second half, when Napier converted a layup in the middle of a 9-0 Huskies spurt. Alex Oriakhi had six of his seven points during the run and finished with 10 rebounds and five blocks.
New Hampshire hung around until the end, never falling more than nine points behind.
