Dwight Howard collected 22 points and 16 rebounds as Houston turned away LeBron James and visiting Miami.

James Harden had 21 points and 11 assists and Terrence Jones piled up 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets, who have won 12 of 14. Patrick Beverley added 19 points and Chandler Parsons recorded 10 points and eight assists for Houston.

James, who set a career high and a franchise record with 61 points on Monday, was held to 22 on 9-of-18 shooting as the Heat had an eight-game winning streak come to an end. Dwyane Wade and Michael Beasley scored 24 points apiece and Ray Allen added 13 for Miami, which remains two games behind the Indiana Pacers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Heat stormed back from a 10-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter to knot it at 93 on Wade’s basket with 6:11 left. Jones responded with a three-point play to kick off an 11-2 run to push the lead to nine points with 2:36 left and Miami‘s final rally fell short when James could not knock down a tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

The Rockets used a 15-4 run kicking off the third quarter to spread a one-point halftime lead out to 68-56. The lead would reach 15 points before Beasley helped rally the Heat within 83-73 starting the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: James knocked down 8-of-10 from 3-point range on Monday both missed all three of his attempts against Houston. … The Rockets snapped a seven-game losing streak in the series. … Houston dominated the glass 46-33 to help overcome 18 turnovers.
