: Josh Smith scored 24 points and Atlanta handed visiting Charlotte its ninth straight loss.

Smith, who didn't play in the fourth quarter, was 11 of 17 from the field, had nine rebounds and four assists.

Rookie Kemba Walker scored 21 points to lead the Bobcats, who have lost 11 of 12 and have the worst record in the NBA.

Atlanta has won all three meetings between the teams this season. The Hawks went ahead for good late in the first quarter and their lead reached double figures late in the second period.

Jeff Teague and Willie Green scored 17 apiece for the Hawks while Joe Johnson added 16.

Atlanta, which began a stretch of three games in four nights, is in sixth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The teams play again in Charlotte on Saturday.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bobcats, who haven't won since March 17, are a league-worst 3-25 on the road. ... Forward Tyrus Thomas, who sustained a jaw injury Tuesday, was scoreless in six minutes for Charlotte. ... Jannero Pargo, who hadn't played since March 16 because of an appendectomy, scored 12 points for Atlanta.
