Al Harrington had 28 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, and Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 107-94 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.

Luis Scola’s jump hook brought Houston to within 90-89 with 5:25 left, but the Nuggets put the game way with a 9-0 run, capped by Harrington’s put back basket.

Nene had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Nuggets (2-1), who finished the game with a 17-5 run.

Yao Ming had 14 points and six rebounds in 22:33 of action. The Rockets will limit Yao, who missed last season with a broken bone in his left foot, to 24 minutes or less per game this season, and he will not play on consecutive nights.

Harrington scored seven points during a 20-7 run, including a 3-pointer with 9:35 left to give the Nuggets an 85-76 lead. Eight of J.R. Smith’s 10 points came during that stretch.

The second quarter featured eight lead changes as the Rockets led 51-48 at halftime.

Scola finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds, and Kevin Martin scored 21 for the Rockets (0-3). Martin is 30 for 30 from the free-throw line this season.
