Joe Johnson scored 36 points and hit the decisive free throws with six-tenths of a second remaining to give the Atlanta Hawks a 100-98 win over the visiting Sacramento Kings on Monday.

Johnson hit a layup with 23 seconds remaining to give the Hawks a 98-96 lead. The Kings called timeout and Tyreke Evans drove in the lane and scored with 11.6 seconds left to tie the game.

After a timeout, Johnson drove down the right side and pulled up for a 10-foot jumper but was fouled by Evans. After Johnson made both free throws, Sacramento got the ball at halfcourt but DeMarcus Cousins's pass to the basket sailed out of bounds.

Al Horford scored 23 points for Atlanta (27-15).

Cousins led Sacramento (9-30) with 20 points. Beno Udrih scored 17 while Evans and Jason Thompson added 16 apiece.

The Kings took an 86-80 lead on Samuel Dalembert's dunk with 8:53 remaining before the Hawks took control. Johnson's jumper tied the game with 7:05 left and Horford's basket at the 6:41 mark gave Atlanta an 88-86 lead.

The Kings, who finished 1-5 on a six-game road trip, didn't score again until Pooh Jeter's basket with 4:23 to go, cutting the lead to 93-88. Evans hit two free throws with 1:31 to play to make it a two-point game, but Carl Landry answered with a layup to tie the game at 96-all with 36.7 seconds left.
