Jeremy Pena's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning drove home the go-ahead run to lift the Houston Astros to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night in Anaheim, Calif.

Korey Lee pinch-ran for Martin Maldonado as the designated baserunner on second base to begin the 10th. He tagged and went to third on Mauricio Dubon's flyout to right field, then scored when Pena laced a single to right field off Angels reliever Aaron Loup (0-3) to put Houston up 3-2.

Ryan Pressley (3-2) retired all three Angels hitters in the bottom of the 10th, stranding designated runner Jonathan Villar, to close it out. He also threw a scoreless inning in the ninth.

Pena led the Astros' offense with two hits while Taylor Ward had two hits for the Angels.

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was hit by a pitch on his left knee on Angels starter Reid Detmers' very first pitch of the game. Pena followed with a walk and Alex Bregman singled to load the bases with no outs.

Kyle Tucker drove in the first run of the game with a single and Aledmys Diaz grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring the Astros' second run of the inning for a 2-0 lead.

Though Altuve initially remained in the game and scored a run, he was removed from the game after the top of the first and was diagnosed with a contusion of the left knee. He's listed as day-to-day.

After giving up the two first-inning runs, Detmers settled in. He shut out the Astros on three hits over the next five innings, completing six innings of work. He allowed the two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six and making 95 pitches.

The Angels scored single runs in the third and fourth innings against Astros starter Framber Valdez to tie the game up. Shohei Ohtani singled with one out, and one out later went to second on a wild pitch.

Luis Rengifo walked and Jo Adell was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Villar, who walked to force in the Angels' first run of the game.

In the fourth inning, Max Stassi was on third with two outs and Ohtani at the plate. On Ball 4 to Ohtani, the ball got away from the catcher Maldonado for a passed ball, Stassi scoring to tie the game at 2-2.
