Pirates 10, Angels 9 (10): Russell Martin delivered a pinch-hit RBI double during a three-run ninth inning and drove in another run with a single in a four-run 10th as visiting Pittsburgh rallied to complete a sweep of its three-game interleague series.

Starling Marte hit a game-tying RBI single in the ninth and Pedro Alvarez homered in his fourth consecutive game for the Pirates, who improved to 5-2 on their nine-game road trip.

Pittsburgh saddled Los Angeles closer Ernesto Frieri with just his second blown save of the year as pinch-hitters Andrew McCutchen and Martin each drove in a run in the ninth before Marte's tying hit. Travis Snider snapped the deadlock in the 10th with a bases-loaded RBI single off Kevin Jepsen (0-2) and two more came home on left fielder J.B. Shuck's error before Martin made it 10-6 with his base hit.

Mark Melancon (2-1) worked a scoreless inning to pick up the win despite the performance of closer Jason Grilli, who surrendered three runs and five hits in the 10th in a non-save situation before striking out Mike Trout with the tying and winning runs in scoring position.

Shuck collected two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Angels, who managed just four singles over the first nine innings as they completed a 5-5 homestand. Frieri spoiled another strong effort from starter Joe Blanton, who remains in search of his second win of the season despite allowing just one earned run in 7 1/3 frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Angels CF Peter Bourjos left the game after three innings with a left thumb injury. Bourjos got hurt while sliding to break up a double play in the second but remained in the contest for another frame before exiting. ... Pittsburgh's Tony Sanchez made his major-league debut and registered his first career hit in the second inning, a two-out, ground-rule double. A catcher by trade, Sanchez served as the Pirates' designated hitter and went 1-for-3. ... Pittsburgh RHP Duke Welker also appeared in his first major-league game, striking out one in a perfect inning of relief.
