Diamondbacks 7, Cardinals 6 (14): Paul Goldschmidt delivered an RBI single in the top of the 14th inning as visiting Arizona outlasted St. Louis in a battle of division leaders.

After the National League West-leading Diamondbacks squandered a 6-3 lead, Cardinals reliever Victor Marte (0-1) walked two of the first three batters he faced in the 14th. Goldschmidt proceeded to hit a 2-2 pitch to center field, plating Gerardo Parra with the go-ahead run.

Josh Collmenter (2-0) tossed four scoreless innings and Heath Bell worked around a leadoff double in the 14th for 10th save in 12 opportunities. Goldschmidt finished with three hits and two RBIs, A.J. Pollock hit a three-run homer and Willie Bloomquist went 4-for-6 and scored twice for Arizona, which is 3-3 on its eight-game road trip.

Allen Craig and Shane Robinson went deep while David Freese collected four hits for the NL Central-leading Cardinals, who lost for just the third time in 10 contests.

After Arizona starter Tyler Skaggs helped his own cause with a game-tying RBI single in the second inning, Pollock belted a three-run shot two frames later to give the Diamondbacks a 4-1 lead. Craig pulled St. Louis within one with a two-run blast in the bottom of the fourth and, after Arizona scored twice in the fifth to make it 6-3, the Cardinals battled back and tied it on Carlos Beltran's RBI single in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Diamondbacks bench coach Alan Trammell was ejected by third base umpire Jordan Baker for arguing from the dugout during a pitching change in the bottom of the sixth inning. ... St. Louis manager Mike Matheny used RHPs Adam Wainwright and Joe Kelly as pinch-hitters. Wainwright struck out in the eighth inning and Kelly grounded out on a bunt attempt in the 13th. ... Cardinals 2B Matt Carpenter singled, tripled and was hit by three pitches, marking the first time in franchise history a player has been plunked on three occasions in one game.
