Diamondbacks 7, Dodgers 1: Paul Goldschmidt homered and drove in a career-high four runs and rookie Trevor Bauer threw six scoreless innings to earn his first major league victory for host Arizona.
Bauer (1-1) allowed only two hits and struck out six in his third career start to help the Diamondbacks take the final three games of the series and close within four games of Los Angeles atop the National League West.
Selected No. 3 overall in the 2011 draft, the 21-year-old Bauer rebounded from two rocky starts and retired the final 12 batters he faced.
Goldschmidt clubbed a three-run homer in the fifth inning and had an RBI double in a two-run first to pull Arizona within one game of the .500 mark (42-43) entering the All-Star break.
Justin Upton added three hits, including an RBI triple, and Miguel Montero had two hits and two RBIs for the Diamondbacks.
Dodgers left-hander Chris Capuano (9-4) allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings to fall to 2-5 lifetime against Arizona.
Juan Uribe broke up the shutout with a sacrifice fly in the ninth for the Dodgers, who lost for the 15th time in 20 games but remained one-half game ahead of the San Francisco Giants for first place in the division.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Upton went 7-for-15 in the four-game series. He was 1-for-19 in the previous five games. ... Despite dropping 11 of their last 13 on the road, the Dodgers enter the All-Star break in first place for the first time since 2009. ... Bauer entered Sunday's start with a 9.82 ERA. ... Arizona won three straight for the first time since taking four straight from June 20-24.
