Orioles 4, Mariners 2 (18): Taylor Teagarden blooped a go-ahead single inside the right-field line in the top of the 18th inning as visiting Baltimore won its 14th consecutive extra-inning game and tied the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East.

The extra-inning streak is the second-longest in baseball history, behind the 17 straight posted by the 1949 Cleveland Indians. Chris Davis delivered a two-run ground single in the ninth just past the dive of Mariners second baseman Dustin Ackley to tie the score and force extra frames in a contest that lasted five hours, 44 minutes.

Nate McLouth walked to start the 18th, advanced to third on a hit-and-run single by J.J. Hardy and scored easily when Teagarden’s pinch single off Lucas Luetge (2-2) dropped in. Mark Reynolds plated another run on a fielder’s choice, Tommy Hunter (5-8) pitched two shutout innings of relief and Jim Johnson pitched the bottom of the 18th for his 44th save in 47 chances.

Seattle starter Erasmo Ramirez took a two-hit shutout into the ninth but allowed back-to-back singles to Ryan Flaherty and McLouth. Tom Wilhelmsen entered and allowed the tying single to Davis with one out for his fourth blown save in 31 opportunities.

Miguel Olivo hit a two-run homer in the fourth off Wei-Yin Chen but Seattle went 0-for-17 with runners in scoring position.
