Albert Pujols hit two homers – including his 12th career grand slam – and the visiting St. Louis Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the National League Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers with an 8-4 victory on Thursday.

Matt Holliday hit his 200th career home run for the Cardinals, who have won six of seven and are now 7 1/2 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central. The teams will play their final series of the season at Busch Stadium next week.

Prince Fielder, Jonathan Lucroy and Corey Hart homered for Milwaukee, but it wasn't enough. The Brewers were swept at Miller Park for the first time since Aug. 24-26, 2010. Milwaukee still has the best home record in baseball (50-19).

St. Louis roughed up Yovani Gallardo (15-9), handing the righthander just his second home loss in 13 starts there this season.

The Cardinals jumped all over Gallardo early. Rafael Furcal hit his second leadoff homer in as many games and one batter later, Pujols belted his NL-leading 33rd homer.

Pujols extended the lead to 6-0 in the third when he lined a 1-0 fastball just over the right field wall for his first grand slam since 2009. He has three homers in the last two days.

Holliday's two-run home run in the fifth – his 20th of the season - gave St. Louis an 8-3 lead. Octavio Dotel (3-3) allowed one hit in 2 2/3 innings after rookie Brandon Dickson lasted just 3 1/3 innings in his first career start.
