John Mayberry Jr. homered and drove in three runs to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-3 victory over the host Florida Marlins on Friday.

The Phillies increased their lead to 8 1/2 games over the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.

Mayberry hit a two-run homer off Brad Hand (1-5) with none out in the fifth inning to put Philadelphia ahead for good 3-2. He added a sacrifice fly in the sixth to drive in Chase Utley with what proved to be the winning run.

The Phillies' Roy Oswalt (7-8) allowed three runs, eight hits and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings. Hand gave up four runs - three earned, four hits, walked three and struck out four in five-plus innings.

Jose Lopez hit a solo home run in the sixth for the Marlins to make it 4-3.
