Carlos Quentin hit a three-run homer to propel the Chicago White Sox to their fourth straight win, a 6-4 home victory over Detroit on Friday night.

Quentin went deep to left in the fourth inning against Andrew Oliver (0-1) to give the White Sox a 4-0 lead. The Tigers got within one twice, first on Casper Wells' three-run shot in the fifth and again on an eighth-inning sacrifice fly by Alex Avila, but they could not complete the comeback bid.

Mark Buehrle (5-4) got the win despite giving up 10 hits in six innings for Chicago, and Sergio Santos recorded the final four outs for his 10th save.

Brent Lillibridge and Juan Pierre each hit a solo home run to help keep the White Sox in front. Pierre, who made a game-saving catch in the eighth, has hit three homers since the 2007 season.

Oliver (0-1) lasted just 3 2/3 innings for Detroit, allowing four runs on six hits while walking five.

Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko was a late scratch from Friday's lineup with an injured left wrist.
