Vladimir Guerrero and Adam Jones both homered and Mark Reynolds drove in three runs as the Baltimore Orioles turned in their best offensive performance of the young season with a 9-5 victory over the visiting Detroit Tigers on Thursday.

Brian Roberts had two hits and Cesar Izturis added an RBI for the Orioles, who improved to 5-1 on the campaign.

The teams battled back and forth through the first six innings, with the Tigers grabbing two different leads only to have the Orioles battle back to level the contest. Detroit went up for the last time in the top of the seventh, pushing a run across on Austin Jackson’s double to gain a 5-4 advantage.

But the Orioles responded in a big way in the bottom half of the frame, pushing across five runs.

Brad Thomas (0-1) allowed the first two batters to reach on a single and a walk before yielding to Enrique Gonzalez. Guerrero drove in the tying run with a one-out single off Gonzalez and Jones scored Nick Markakis on a sacrifice fly to give Baltimore its first lead.

Reynolds followed with a double to left, plating Guerrero and Felix Pie, and Izturis capped the rally with an RBI single off lefthander Daniel Schlereth.

Jim Johnson (1-0) picked up the win in relief.
