Jim Edmonds replaced an injured Corey Hart and belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning, snapping a tie and leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-5 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday.
After tripling and scoring in the first inning, Hart suffered a wrist injury in the third and left the game. Edmonds came on and delivered an RBI single during a two-run fifth that drew Milwaukee within 5-3.
Carlos Gomez hit an RBI triple and scored on Alcides Escobar's double in the sixth to tie the game. An inning later, Rickie Weeks led off with a walk and Edmonds followed with his sixth blast of the season off Sean Burnett (0-5), creating a two-run advantage for the Brewers, who have won eight of their last 12.
Kameroe Loe (1-1) tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Chris Narveson to pick up the win and John Axford worked a perfect ninth for his 14th save in as many opportunities.
Narveson, who contributed an RBI single, allowed five runs and six hits in six innings, striking out five without a walk.
Michael Morse homered twice and drove in four runs for the Nationals, who have lost 27 of their last 35 road games.
