Livan Hernandez threw a four-hit shutout to guide the Washington Nationals to their third straight victory, an 8-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
Hernandez (2-0) struck out three batters and issued two walks on 112 pitches, only getting in trouble one time. The veteran right-hander now hasn't given up a run in 14 innings this year.
Justin Maxwell hit a two-run homer in the second off Brewers starter Randy Wolf as the Nationals took an early 3-0 lead that was enough for Hernandez. Maxwell finished with three RBIs and Ivan Rodriguez had a two-run double and also recorded three RBIs.
Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman returned to the lineup after missing a week with a bad left hamstring and had two RBIs to help Washington (6-5) improve to over .500 for the first time since 2008.
Wolf (1-1) went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
