Carlos Gomez snapped a late tie with an RBI single and George Kottaras added a two-run homer to lead the Milwaukee Brewers past the Florida Marlins, 7-4, on Wednesday.
Yovani Gallardo pitched seven strong innings and helped his own cause with a solo homer for the Brewers, who snapped a three-game slide.
Knotted at 2-2 in the eighth, Gomez broke the draw with a two-out single to left off Jorge Sosa (1-1), plating Prince Fielder. Gomez stole second before Kottaras provided Milwaukee with some insurance, clubbing a two run homer - his fifth of the season.
The Marlins got a run back in the bottom of the frame but Fielder pushed the lead back to three runs with a solo shot in the top of the ninth.
Gallardo (6-2), who forged the 2-2 tie with a homer leading off the seventh, allowed two runs - one earned - and four hits.
John Axford allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings to earn his third save.
