Martin Prado and Chipper Jones hit solo home runs in the third inning to provide all the support Jair Jurrjens and the Atlanta bullpen needed in the Braves’ 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Jurrjens (2-3) continued his strong performance since returning from the disabled list, lasting 6 2/3 innings and allowing one run on five hits to remain unbeaten in his last three starts. Three Atlanta relievers combined to finish the six-hitter, including Billy Wagner, who struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 21st save in 24 opportunities.
Prado's 11th homer and Jones' seventh blast marked the only damage the Braves did against Milwaukee starter Dave Bush (4-7), who took the loss despite limiting Atlanta to two runs on seven hits over six innings.
Milwaukee's lone run came in the first on Corey Hart's 22nd homer, which tied him with Joey Votto and Adam Dunn for the National League lead.
Shortstop Alex Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a double in his debut with the Braves, while Brian McCann and Troy Glaus added two hits apiece for Atlanta, which has won five of six.
