Adam Dunn belted a pair of home runs and drove in four runs to carry the Washington Nationals to a 7-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.
Adam Kennedy drove in two runs and Mike Morse added a home run for Washington, which has taken two of three in the four-game set.
Dunn, who was the subject of trade rumors leading up to the deadline, continued his recent tear with his fourth homer in as many games and now has 28 on the season.
His offense helped make a winner of Craig Stammen (4-4), who gave up a run on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked four to win consecutive starts for the first time this season.
The Nationals built up a 4-1 lead through four innings as Kennedy singled in a run sandwiched between Dunn’s blasts.
Arizona starter Ian Kennedy (6-9) gave up four runs on eight hits in four innings to absorb the loss.
Adam LaRoche homered and Justin Upton drove in a run to account for the Diamondbacks’ offense.
