The Los Angeles Dodgers finally defeated the Los Angeles Angels and did so in decisive fashion Thursday night with a 10-6 victory at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
The win was the Dodgers’ first in six meetings with the Angels this season. It also snapped a season-worst six-game losing streak.
Jamey Carroll and Casey Blake had three hits apiece, while Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez both had two RBIs as the Dodgers unleashed a 15-hit attack.
The Dodgers used a five-run fourth inning – Furcal’s two-run double was the key hit – to take a 5-1 lead and then slowly pulled away.
Mike Napoli hit his 12th homer of the season for the Angels.
Charlie Haeger was pulled after 4 2/3 innings and reliever Jeff Weaver (4-1) was credited with the victory.
Scott Kazmir (7-6) allowed five runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings for the Angels.
The top of the seventh inning included an 18-minute interruption after a bank of lights on the first-base side went out at Angel Stadium. The umpires resumed play despite the bank remaining out after conferring with Angels manager Mike Scioscia and Dodgers skipper Joe Torre.
