Adam Rosales homered and drove in a career-high four runs and the Oakland Athletics surged to life in the late innings for a 9-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
Mark Ellis had two hits and two RBIs and Ryan Sweeney had an RBI and scored twice for Oakland, which pushed across eight runs over the final three innings to take two of three games in the series.
Dallas Braden (1-0) earned his first win of the season, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings of work.
Tyson Ross picked up a three-inning save, the first of his career, by allowing a run on two hits in relief of Braden.
The Angels held a 3-1 lead after six innings behind starter Joe Saunders before the wheels came off in the seventh.
Ellis hit a ground-rule double to score one and Rosales followed up with a single to left that plated two more to make it 4-3.
The A’s brought three more across in the eighth, capped-off by a single from Gabe Gross for the 7-3 advantage.
Saunders (0-2) allowed four runs on four hits over six innings to take the loss.
Bobby Abreu homered and Kendry Morales singled in a run in the first inning to give the Angels a 2-0. Juan Rivera added his second home run of the season in the ninth.
